We begin in Nairobi, a city where skyscrapers meet the savanna, visiting the giraffe centre and the elephant orphanage before heading southeast into Tsavo East, Kenya’s largest national park and one of Africa’s great conservation strongholds, home to the famed red elephants and a hard-won black rhino recovery.
Then we trade grassland for coastline, flying to Mombasa and the Swahili shores of the Indian Ocean, where centuries of Swahili, Arab, and Indian Ocean trade meet white sand and turquoise water. Here, the African diaspora moved outward across the sea. Here, you feel it.
